Privacy Policy

• Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form), and your language preference.
• Sign in with Google: your name, email address and Google account ID. We never see your Google password.
• Profile details you choose to add: username, profile photo, cover image, bio, city and state, gender and links such as your website, Instagram or TikTok, and whether your profile is public.
• Content you share: reviews and ratings, posts, photos, comments, likes, the people you follow, saved places and collections, and reports you send us.
• Business information: when you claim or submit a business or post a promotion, the business details you provide and your contact name and email.
• Messages you send us, for example by email.

• Technical data such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to run the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse (for example, limiting repeated sign-in attempts).
• Listing view counts: to count how often a listing is viewed, we store a one-way hash of your IP address for each day, not the IP address itself.
• Location, only if you tap "Near me": your browser shares your approximate location so we can show nearby places. It is kept in your browser for that session and is not stored on our servers.
• Cookies and browser storage: cookies that keep you signed in and protect forms, and browser storage that remembers your recently viewed places. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to help us understand how the site is used.

Business listings are built from publicly available information, such as business websites and public directories, together with details added by owners and members. Business owners can claim their listing to update it, or contact us to correct or remove information.

• to provide welil: your account, profile, reviews, posts, saved places and notifications;
• to rank and recommend listings, using signals such as reviews, saves and views in aggregate;
• to send service emails, such as email verification and password resets;
• to keep welil safe: preventing fraud, fake reviews, spam and abuse, and enforcing our Terms;
• to understand how welil is used and improve it;
• to meet legal obligations.

Reviews are public and show your name. If your profile is public, your profile, posts, comments, collections and follower counts can be seen by anyone. If you make your profile private, your profile and posts are hidden from other people. You can change this at any time in your settings.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share information only:

• with service providers who help us run welil, such as hosting and cloud storage for photos, email delivery, Google sign-in and Google Analytics, under contracts that limit how they use it;
• when a page loads content from another service, such as map tiles from OpenStreetMap or fonts from Google Fonts, which receive your IP address as part of that request;
• when required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of welil, our members or others;
• as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this Policy continues to apply.

We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, posts, comments, likes, follows, saved places and collections. Reviews you wrote may stay on the site under the name you used; contact us if you would like them removed too. Limited records may remain in backups and security logs for a short period, or longer where the law requires.

You can view and edit your profile, make it private, and delete your account at any time from your account settings. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it.

If you live in California or another U.S. state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal information in that way. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and you may use an authorised agent.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.

We protect your information with measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and optional two-factor authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

welil is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

welil is operated in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let members know by email or on the site.
